Indigenous Screen Storytelling and the Environment at SPF21

29 • 09

The Indigenous Screen Office and Telefilm Canada will be presenting a panel called Telling Stories on the Land | Indigenous Screen Storytelling and the Environment at this year’s Sustainable Production Forum (SPF21), which takes place virtually from October 25 to 29, 2021.

This panel will offer an important conversation on eco-responsibility, sustainability, and film creation through an Indigenous lens. Indigenous creators and filmmakers have (and continue to) developed sustainable, eco-friendly production shoots, working within their long-held practices that are rooted in mindfulness and respect towards the land they’re working on. This discussion will focus on how eco-responsibility in the industry from an Indigenous perspective will hopefully inform the way stories and films can be produced.

Happening online October 27, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM, the panel will be moderated by the Indigenous Screen Office’s Executive Director Jesse Wente, an Ojibwe writer, journalist, curator, producer, activist, and public speaker, who is also Chair of Canada Council of the Arts.

This year’s Sustainable Production Forum will explore the theme Breaking Barriers; Every Voice Matters, Every Action Counts. Based in Vancouver, the conference focuses on finding and discussing sustainable solutions for entertainment and filmmaking.

Join us online for this timely discussion. Panelists will be announced soon.
