The 71st Berlin International Film Festival has developed a new festival format for 2021 due to the Covid-19 situation. The industry platforms European Film Market, Berlinale Co-Production Market and Berlinale Talents will take place from March 1st – 5th with an online offer. In June, there will be a summer event with numerous film screenings for the public audiences.
Similar to previous years, the EFM 2021 will consist of three main parts: market screenings, presentations of market exhibitors and the conference programme EFM Industry Sessions. New films will be presented through online market screenings, this will include films from the festival selection. In addition to participating in the activities of the EFM, Telefilm Canada will have a virtual Canada pavilion and will be involved with the Coproduction Market, Berlinale Talents and DocSalon.
The film selection will be announced early February.
