With 14 Canadian projects in the festival’s official selection, Canadian talent is set to show the world what they’re made of. Taking place in Austin, Texas from March 10 through 19, SXSW 2023 will bring together multiple sectors of creative industries, from screen to music, tech, and more!

Powered by Telefilm Canada with the support of the Consulate General of Canada to the United States, in Dallas, CIMA, Investissement Québec international, Frontier Collective (Vancouver), Destination Toronto, Ontario Creates and Exclaim!, along with collaborators Design Overall, Dix2, Hub Montréal, and Panasonic, Canada House is back in full force!

With six days of thematic programming, and located at Swan Dive (615 Red River St., Austin, TX), Canada House at SXSW 2023 is the place to be from March 11 to 16, with exclusive programming designed to match SXSW’s various themes.

At Canada House and beyond, we’re excited to facilitate new partnerships for Canadian talent, while showcasing the multifaceted strength of Canada’s creativity and innovation!

Projects by Canadian talent from coast to coast at SXSW 2023

In the SXSW 2023 festival selection, Canadian content is representing in a big way, with projects hailing from coast to coast, including six from British Columbia!

Of our 14 Canadian projects and coproductions at SXSW, seven are world premieres, including three narrative features: Ally Pankiw penned the script for her directorial feature debut, I Used to Be Funny, whose heroine is a comedian with PTSD. Also making its world premiere is Bloody Hell. This tale of a teenager with MRKH syndrome is written and directed by Molly McGlynn, whose 2017 feature Mary Goes Round dazzled the festival circuit. And Kim Albright’s With Love and a Major Organ is about a woman who literally tears her heart out and hands it over.
