Fans of Canadian cinema, grab your headphones — and your popcorn! A brand new, six-episode season of your favourite French-language film podcast is ready for your ears, featuring conversations with bright lights of the Canadian Francophone cinemascape!

Launched online on August 20, 2021, and on-air the following day, the anticipated second season of Sortez le popcorn is guaranteed to sweeten the airwaves of your favourite streaming platform (tune in on C23, Spotify, Apple, or Google Podcasts). The podcast — or, in French, the balado — is powered by Telefilm Canada (with Cogeco Media, produced by Pushup Média), and will be also be broadcast on the radio on 98.5FM.

What’s Sortez le popcorn all about?

The acclaimed podcast features lively, in-depth interviews with various Francophone players in the industry, making French-language Canadian content more discoverable to audiences. Guided by host Catherine Beauchamp, emerging talent and established icons share their unique perspectives, tell memorable stories about films they’ve worked on, and take listeners on an entertaining, insightful journey behind the scenes of films we know, love, or are about to discover.

Hot on the heels of Season 1’s success, season 2 of Sortez le popcorn kicked off on August 20, featuring Quebec actor Michel Côté, renowned for his performances in Piché, entre ciel et terre (Piché: The Landing of a Man), C.R.A.Z.Y., and De père en flic (Father and Guns) 1 and 2., plus special guests Danielle Proulx and Maxime Le Flaguais.

A new episode will be available every week for a total of six!

Next up, don’t miss an anecdote-filled discussion about “growing up on set,” with Marianne Verville, Pier-Luc Funk, and Catherine Brunet.

The week of September 3rd brings together Marie Tifo, Rémy Girard, and director Charles Binamé for a conversation on the importance and complexity of period films.

Episode 4 features “comedy king” Émile Gaudreault (Menteur (Compulsive Liar), Mambo Italiano, De père en flic (Father and Guns) 1 and 2, and Nuit de noces (Wedding Night).

Episode 5 brings us into the “crazy world” of Dans une Galaxie près de chez vous (In a Galaxy Near You), with Mélanie Maynard and Stéphane Crête.

Last but not least, the season’s closer takes a look at adapting novels for the screen, with Patrick Sénécal, Myriam Verreault, and Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette.
