We are honoured to be this year’s Country in Focus at the European Film Market in Berlin. We can’t wait for Canadian creators to use this global showcase to reach new audiences and create export opportunities for our industry.
We’re offering opportunities too big to pass up! From the Canadian Pavilion to loads of networking events, to our initiatives like Perspective Canada and First Look(ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre), you’ll need to make LOTS of room in your agenda.
A line-up of 17 Canadian Films
Canadian diversity will be showcased in films by emerging (Fake Tattoos) and Indigenous (Three Thousand, Nuuca) filmmakers, and by the many coproductions and award-winning filmmakers present at the festival. Also at the festival are documentaries: What Walaa Wants (Christy Garland), First Stripes(Jean-François Caissy), the world premiere of Interchange (Brian M. Cassidy, Melanie Shatzky), and the European premiere of The Green Fog (Guy Maddin, Evan and Galen Johnson).
Spotlight on Canadian Producers
Over 100 of Canada’s most prominent producers will take part in the EFM this year! Active around the world, Canadian producers are unique in their understanding of the industry, their openness to the world, and their respect for creators and international culture.
Berlin will have a Canadian flavour this year
This year, we’re all about innovation! Don’t miss our Let’s change with Blockchain! panel at the EFM Horizon. Also on the agenda: the Co-production Market (three of the 36 projects are Canadian), Berlinale Talents (250 participants, 70 countries and 14 Canadians), Canada Big on VR (a selection of Canada’s top VR films in 2017), a special performance by Canadian band Dear Criminals, and so much more!
