Canada was shining bright at MIPCOM this year. With 579 Canadians in attendance at this important international market dedicated to financing, co-production, acquisitions and sales of audiovisual content on all platforms, let\u2019s revisit some highlights of Canada\u2019s success at the event!<\/h2>

MIPCOM 2018 took place last month in Cannes, France, and hosted some 13,800 delegates (including 4,800 buyers) from 110 countries, among them, Canada! So, how did we make our unique Canuck mark at this can\u2019t-miss market within the global scene? We pulled out all the stops to make our presence known, and to make sure our programming, initiatives, and events were relevant and exciting to our talented filmmakers and all our international partners!<\/p>

Success in Showbizz<\/h4>

MIPCOM\u2019s conference and event theme was The Big Shift – Transitioning to a reshaped media landscape, and this timely topic was certainly ripe for conversation. Our dynamic panel discussion, Showbizz success in today\u2019s world<\/a> (organized by Telefilm Canada, Canada Media Fund, and CBC\/Radio-Canada) fit right in to this theme and attracted international buyers. In fact, the audience included more than 110 foreigners from 34 countries. This inspiring talk, was moderated by Catherine Tait<\/a>, the first woman to lead Canada\u2019s national broadcaster. The speakers were Marie-Claude Beauchamp<\/a>, President and Producer, Carpediem Film & TV; Tassie Cameron<\/a>, Executive Producer and Co-Founder, Cameron Pictures; and Christina Jennings<\/a>, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Shaftesbury.<\/p>

Getting our networking on<\/h4>

Meanwhile, back at the Canada Pavilion, with 93 Canadian companies and 160 Canadians were networking, building business relationships, and getting creative inspiration! About 30 meetings took place during our matchmaking Brazil & Canada event (presented by Telefilm, Canada Media Fund, and Brazilian Content). Also, Canada offered a brand new matchmaking opportunity for 19 production companies to meet with a dozen of Chinese buyers specialized in kids\u2019 content this year.<\/p>

Canada’s got talent<\/h4>

In other Canadian news that made big waves at MIPCOM, three Canadian talents graced the red carpet: TV host and producer Alexandra Diaz, celebrity chef and TV personality David Rocco, and producer Christina Fon (accompanied by renowned Stevie Salas who presented an award).<\/p>

Finally, a Canadian project was selected at Fresh TV Fiction, a staple event at MIPCOM. The standout project was French Canadian drama The Game <\/em>that brings forward the theme of cyber-bullying.<\/p>

What about MIPJUNOR?<\/h4>

We\u2019re proud to say that almost 100 meetings took place at our dedicated Canada private meeting tables at MIPJunior (available to Canadians for free) and our MIPJunior showcase, International Success Stories, attracted 100 foreigners from 33 countries<\/p>
